A half-day dissemination workshop was held on May 9, 2018, on Green Business Opportunities around Industrial Parks. The session held in the EP offices hosted participants that were drawn from entrepreneurs, government, organizations, international development cooperation agencies, financial institutions and environmental consulting firms.
The main objectives of the workshop were to share the business case study EP commissioned on eco-industrial parks (EIP) development as one way to trigger interest, collaboration and action towards green industrialization; as well as affording key actors in the green industrialization space a chance to network and to start collective action for proactive engagement in the green economy.
In the presentation by Girum Bahri (Green Growth Advisor, EP), internationally evolving frameworks relevant to EIPs that guided the study were introduced and the “Quick Impact” and “Strategic” projects identified by the study were presented. A one-page summary of these projects was also handed over to participants for future reference.
The open discussion session was facilitated by Rahel Kidane using a simple framework which sought to distil insights from four key actors in the green economy, namely government/policy makers; entrepreneurs/investors; financiers/donors/development cooperation; and consultants.
